Roshanara Bagh was originally developed as the garden tomb of Begum
Roshanara, the younger daughter of Mughul Emperor Shahajahan. According
to a study by the Eco-Transformation Centre for Environment and Uplift,
the actual destruction of this garden begun about a 100 years ago, when
the laying of Delhi; Ambala railway line had cut off the Northern periphery
of the Roashanara Gardens. It also found the original formal design
obscured by the winding pass. About a decade later the English and the
Indian elite settling down in Civil Lines joined hands to form the Roshanara
Club on the Western side of the garden.
